LANDMARK: Be Inspired in Central

Take Another View on Art at LANDMARK An unprecedented aerial display of over HK$140 million of masterpieces from Impressionism to Modernism to the Contemporary

LANDMARK, brings together world-class fine art and exquisite gastronomic experiences in a luxury journey this March. Enhancing Central as an important global art hub, LANDMARK will launch Be Inspired in Central, in collaboration with 9 international galleries and a generous loan from a private collection. The campaign will feature Take Another View on Art, a specially commissioned public exhibition of museum quality artworks valued over HK$140 million at LANDMARK ATRIUM. Designed by William Lim, an award-winning Hong Kong architect, artist and art collector, works by world-renowned artists such as Claude Monet, Marc Chagall, Zao Wou-ki and Zeng Fanzhi will be uniquely installed in a monumental and effervescent suspended dome structure. In parallel, there will be a distinctive food and art pairing, The Artful Palate, where 10 famed LANDMARK restaurants will create epicurean delights inspired by the artworks for the occasion. Be Inspired in Central will be held from 21st March to 4th April, with LANDMARK embodying the epitome of top-tier luxury shopping while embracing high fashion, the arts and lifestyle.

Take Another View on Art
The exhibition Take Another View on Art provides the public with unprecedented access to a wide range of important artworks. Raised above the audience, binoculars will be carefully positioned underneath the dome to allow for the exceptional details to be seen. Redefining contemporary mechanisms of art viewing, Take Another View on Art breaks from the convention of presenting art in the white cube. Referencing canonical architectural feats such as Brunelleschi’s dome and the Sistine Chapel, Lim has re-created the celestial dome for modernity. The colossal structure, 13 metres in diameter, is constructed from thousands of luminescent plexiglass rounds, encasing 9 valuable artworks.
Take Another View on Art is one in a long line of art and cultural initiatives promoted by LANDMARK. Over the decades, there has been an enduring vision for Hongkong Land to provide the community with access to inspiring art within the retail sector of Hongkong Land’s Central portfolio, LANDMARK and enhancing central as an art hub. Creating an immersive sophisticated lifestyle experience where art, fashion and food intersect is a core philosophy.
The exhibition will include important masterpieces featuring a spectrum of renowned Western, Chinese and Hong Kong artists, the selection within offering a microcosm in the history of art theory and production. Exhibiting artists include: Zao Wou-ki (de Sarthe Gallery), Marc Chagall (Opera Gallery), Claude Monet (Christie’s), Zeng Fanzhi (Private Collection), Alex Prager (Lehmann Maupin), Simon Birch (Ben Brown Fine Arts), Stella Zhang (Galerie du Monde), Xu Longsen (Hanart TZ Gallery) and Laurent Grasso (Edouard Malingue Gallery).
Concurrently, as part of Be Inspired in Central, Hongkong Land is sponsoring a large-scale installation of Boat by Zhu Jinshi (Pearl Lam Galleries) at The Rotunda, Exchange Square. Shown for the first time in Hong Kong, and measuring 18 metres long and 7 metres high, this immense walk-in installation is constructed of bamboo, cotton and over 10,000 sheets of xuan (rice) paper.

Art Appreciation and Education
The multifaceted approach of Be Inspired in Central engages the public with a strong educational programme allowing for access to art. Guided art tours of Central will be curated, providing tailored experiences for families, students, professionals and art lovers alike. Building on Hongkong Land’s collection of over 50 permanent artworks displayed throughout its 12 buildings in Central, each artwork is paired with a QR code which visitors can scan to learn more about the pieces and enjoy a guided audio tour.

The Artful Palate
In a creative fusion of gastronomy and art, 10 celebrated LANDMARK restaurants will design exquisite cocktails or dishes for Be Inspired in Central. The Artful Palate serves as an amuse-bouche for the delectable culinary journey at LANDMARK, with each chef presenting inspired gourmet experiences as spirited interpretations of the artworks on display.
