Visiting chef Nur Budiyono Bio from Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta, will arrive at S.E.Asia Kitchen & Bar to give Guangzhou diners the opportunity to taste authentic Indonesian flavours from 22nd to 31st January, 2016.
The mention of Indonesian food reminds people of Nasi Goreng Komplit, Indonesian fried rice. As a tropical country, Indonesia does not produce wheat, therefore Indonesians use rice as their staple food and have developed many delicacies based on rice.
Similar with other South East Asian countries, Indonesia is rich in fresh seafood and a variety of spices. These advantages give a unique taste and personality to Indonesian cuisine. Aside from the rice dishes, Indonesia has an extensive range of snacks and street food.
Chef Nur Budiyono, who will arrive at S.E.Asia Kitchen & Bar this month, was born on Java Island, central Indonesia. Growing up with a passion for cooking and experiment with spices, he started learning secret recipes and cooking skills from his mother.
He started his professional career at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta in 2001 as commis chef. Since then, he has been promoted to chef de partie at Satoo Kitchen, an all-day-dining restaurant featuring an international buffet spread and local delights. He has been invited as guest chef to promote authentic Indonesian cuisine at other sister Shangri-La hotels around the world.
Welcome to S.E.Asia Kitchen & Bar with your family and friends to embrace the warmth and festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year. Chef Nur Budiyono highly recommends Gado-Gado, a must-try appetiser and Indonesia’s popular street food as it consists of fresh vegetables and condiments, mixed well with his tasty secret sauce and includes peanut sauce
Chef Nur Budiyono also brings along popular dishes like Nasi Goreng Komplit, an Indonesian Fired Rice, and Rendang Minang, Beef stew in Chili and coconut. Other classical food like: Ayam Penyet, spicy Grill Chicken and Ikan Panggang, Roasted fish with lemongrass. Both of these two dishes are marinated with many local spices; its taste is enhanced even more with the experienced chef’s skilful grill.
S.E.Asia Kitchen & Bar is located on the second floor of Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou. Its concept is to bring the most authentic street food from South East Asian countries to the local diners using five-star-quality ingredients served in a five-star environment. A line-up of visiting guest chefs from sister properties in the region keep things interesting. The restaurant now presents cocktails with elements from tropical countries. The revamped space is perfect for family and friendly gatherings or even business entertainment, and the restaurant offers a down-to-earth pricing strategy.
The restaurant’s Chef Angus has more than 12 years of culinary experience acquired and accumulated at three Thai and three Malaysian chefs. To serve local diners the best delicacies, Chef Angus went under in-depth cross training at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, the first Shangri-La property, and learnt some culinary secrets from one of the origin countries of South East Asian cuisine before creating the restaurant’s menu.
Featuring Chilli Crab, Laksa and different types of curry dishes and more, the menu features the most traditional homemade food.
Lively drinks are always the good match for everyone’s favourite food. S.E.Asia Kitchen & Bar’s signature cocktail, a Tom Yum-flavoured cocktail is the recommended drink.
The restaurant’s wooden decoration gives guests a visual hint of South East Asia, in addition to the food. The spacious restaurant overlooks Canton Tower and the Pearl River. Casual bamboo lamps and floor-to-ceiling windows give the place a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere.
