Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen holds a series of Christmas-themed activities ranging from a Christmas lighting ceremony to New Year’s Eve promotions for the holiday season.
Lighting Ceremony
The Christmas tree was lit brightly in a ceremony held at 7:30 p.m. on 25 November 2016. The choir singing, live band and dance performances, and Santa Claus’ arrival impressed all guests. The hotel shared its gingerbread house decoration and 1.5-metre Christmas Tree Cake with the guests. Each piece of cake was sold at RMB50 and all revenue was donated to charity to help people with autism.
Café Zen
This year, Café Zen’s Christmas Eve and Christmas Day theme will be “Santa’s Workshop”. The restaurant will be transformed into a magical workshop fully decorated with Christmas gifts, so children can meet, chat, play and share cookies with Santa Claus and the elves.
Café Zen offers a buffet lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and two rounds of buffet dinner on Christmas Eve. The buffet lunch includes Canadian and Australian lobsters cooked in four different ways, Lobster Bisque, Uni Fried Rice, Whole Salmon, Roasted Ham with Honey and Clove, Roasted Turkey, Roasted Oyster, Steamed Scallop and lavish Christmas desserts. It is priced at RMB388 per person; reservations made seven days in advance will enjoy an early-bird price of RMB338.
The buffet dinner will offer more dishes, including Canadian and Australian lobsters cooked in six different ways, four types of caviar, Roasted Ham, Baked Wagyu Prime Ribs, Roasted Lamb Leg, Roasted Suckling Pig and lavish Christmas desserts.

Chairman’s Room
The Chairman’s Room on the 40th floor presents “Dining with the Stars” from 6 to 10:30 p.m. The menu is priced at RMB1, 688 per couple and includes French Oysters and Iranian Caviar, Cauliflower Velouté, Truffle and Shaved Scallop, Seared Foie Gras, Poached Turkey Breast, Australian Wagyu Beef Duo, Taylor’s Yule Log and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne. Each couple will also receive a Christmas gift of one 1.2-metre teddy bear.
Resident singer Nick Zhang, nicknamed the “prince of romantic songs”, will tell touching romantic stories via delicate and diverse love songs.
Shang Garden
From 24 to 30 December 2016, Shang Garden will present a festive combination of Huaiyang and Cantonese dishes created by Chef Anthony Dong. There will be a six-course set menu and an eight-course set menu available for a minimum of two guests.
The six-course set dinner (from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.) is priced at RMB288 per person and includes Braised Golden Corn with Sea Cucumber Soup, Shanghai-Style Braised King Prawn with Minced Pork, Stewed Hui Fish Maw with Bamboo Shoot and Steamed Rice and a glass of Autoritas red or white wine per person.
The eight-course set dinner (from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.) is priced at RMB588 per person and includes Braised Mixed Seafood and Fish Maw with Canadian Butternut Squash, South African Abalone with Quinoa in Oyster Sauce, Confit Teriyaki Goose Leg with Stewed Dried Oyster and a glass of Autoritas red or white wine per person.
Shang Garden Bar
December is the month of Champagne at Shang Garden Bar. From 1 to 31 December 2016, diners will enjoy Champagne with a platter of selected cheese and musical rhythms by the resident band from the Philippines. Available from 8 p.m. to midnight, the menu is priced at RMB700 and includes a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne, Swiss Cheese Fondue and a European Cheese Board. A charge of RMB580 applies to every succeeding bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne. The live band plays nightly from 8 to midnight during Tuesday to Sunday.
Lobby Lounge
Lobby Lounge offers two festive afternoon tea set menus from 28 November to 31 December 2016. The Christmas Afternoon High Tea and Traditional English Afternoon High Tea are available from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at RMB388 for two persons. Both include two glasses of brandy cocktail and a Christmas gift. Ms Mamniashvili Mariami from Georgia performs both classic and modern piano pieces during the high tea.
Lobby Lounge also offers a Christmas Champagne Package and a Christmas Wine Package from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. from 1 to 30 December 2016. The Christmas Champagne Package is priced at RMB700 each and includes a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne and a Charcuterie Board with Cheese. The Christmas Wine Package is priced at RMB538 each and includes a bottle of premium white or red wine and a Charcuterie Board with Cheese. The lounge’s resident singer and pianist, Nick, performs for the guests at night.
