Hotel Okura Macau was presented with the “Environmental Performance Gold Award” at the 4th Annual “Business Awards of Macau” gala ceremony held at the Grand Lisboa on November 17, 2016.
The event was attended by hundreds of the city’s leading business people, including those from commerce and media, as well as panel members and distinguished guests. A jury of 30 distinguished members selected the winners in eleven different categories, choosing from a selection of more than 150 entries which represented a wide swath of the city’s industries and individuals.
It has been Hotel Okura Macau policy to undertake to create a more environmentally-friendly operation and to increase awareness to staff and guests for the issues of recycling and waste reduction. The hotel has implemented a number of measures, including using water-saving nozzles; collecting and recycling waste paper, ink and toner cartridges, plastic bottles and aluminum cans; encouraging promotions to customers via electronic means or through social networking instead of paper leaflets; replacing plastic bottles for soap and shampoo with soap dispensers; and avoiding food wastage by reducing the purchase of food with short life spans.
