“This award is for the youth of Cambodia. They have helped me and I will continue to work hard for them,” Mr. Hun of Cambodia told Delta Bridges upon winning his Gusi Peace Prize International here in Manila.

Mr. Hun, who won the prize for his championing of the youth of Cambodia, also celebrated the launch of the Sino-Asia Pacific Medical Forum—the latter had its inaugural sessions in Manila and Macau this week in support of the Gusi prize.

Dr. Huang Jiefu, a noted organ transplant surgeon from China and former Vice-Minister of Health of the PRC, also won a Gusi this week and helped launch the Sino-Asia Pacific Medical Forum. Regarding this, Dr. Billy Chan, Vice Chairman of the Sino-Asia Pacific Forum and Vice President of the Gusi said, “We were honored to have both Mr. Hun and Mr. Huang attend our forum and we will be working closely with them in the future.”

“We volunteer to invite young Cambodian doctors to come to our Excellence in Skills Center at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Macau University of Sciences and Technology (MUST) to join our training,” said Dr. Chan, who is also the assistant to the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at MUST.

“Former Vice Minister Huang is doing incredible work with organ transplants and has cleaned up the corruption in this regard in China. We are honored that he attended our event and can see more cooperation in the future with this Sino-Asia platform,” said Dr. Manson Fok, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at MUST, Chairman of the Sino-Asia Pacific Medical Forum, and CEO of the Gusi.

“The Philippines is just one of many countries around Asia we will be expanding the Sino-Asia Pacific forum to in the coming years. We have already welcomed many doctors from the Philippines to Macau for training and hope to have our young Cambodian colleagues at our center as welll,” said Dr. Chan.

Extending a stately well wish for this medical forum and for forging Asian friendships was founding Seychelles president Sir James Mancham. Sir. Mancham, who spoke at the launch of the Asia-Pacific Medical Forum told Delta Bridges, “You must come together and increase dialogue between all peoples. Cultures must understand each other and communicate clearly. If you do not have this, you cannot succeed in treating the billions of people who living in Asia.”

“I wish you a huge success and my support,” said Sir Mancham.

“We are happy next to go visit Mr. Hun and the young doctors and nurses in Cambodia,” said Dr. Chan.

“These are our first humble steps and we will be taking them to as many Asia and Pacific countries as possible,” said Dr. Fok.

Mr. Hun, who serves in the Cambodia National Assembly and is the son of Prime Minister Hun Sen, also told Delta Bridges, “We welcome you and friends in China to come visit our beautiful country anytime.”
