The Envoy

On the 3rd floor of the brand new boutique hotel, The Pottinger, found at the intersection of Stanley Street, you’ll find a restaurant named The Envoy. This restaurant is also a cocktail bar with a twist. The cocktail menu is inspired through the history of tea. This inspiration has created an imaginative blend of delicious fruity cocktails, which is mixed with the essence of tea.

This mixing concept comes from world-renowned mixologist Antonio Lai, winner of the World Class 2015 Hong Kong and Macau Champion Award and his partner Amanda Wan, who is also a mixologist and who have both developed the menu and marries Antonio’s signature multisensory influence, which is designed for the thirsty traveller. Amanda Wan was also first recognised for her talents when she represented Malaysia in 2010 at the World Class competition.

A few options to look out for on this unique and exciting menu of mixed concoctions are Dewdrops of the Heart, True Blood #2 and the newest edition, Early Bird. The Envoy also has an Executive Set Lunch, which is available from Monday to Friday. An array of dinner options are also on offer from 6pm onwards from an international à la Carte menu. Also served at weekends are delectable brunches, which are also served on public holidays too!

The Envoy’s concept essentially pays homage to Sir Henry Pottinger who, in 1841 was sent by Britain to represent the country for governmental relations with China. Pottinger’s journey brought him to the deep natural harbour of Hong Kong as the designated envoy. Pottinger was eventually made the first Governor of Hong Kong after the first Opium War ended upon the victory at Humen and the Treaty of Nanking. Sir Henry Pottinger eventually established Hong Kong’s port to be a major player in the trading business for merchants around the world.
